John and Leonie Hynds are delighted to announce that the Hynds Foundation is proudly supporting the Heart Foundation by establishing a Senior Research Fellowship. This will provide an opportunity for a talented young researcher to carry out innovative heart health research.

Tony Duncan, Chief Executive of the Heart Foundation says “We are very grateful to the Hynds Foundation for their substantial commitment which will support the work of the Heart Foundation’s Chair of Heart Health for three years. It is only by working together that we can address New Zealand’s biggest killer, heart disease.”

Eloy Water Joins Hynds

Hynds Pipe Systems Ltd and Eloy Water are proud to announce their exciting new partnership in New Zealand and South West Pacific Islands.

Eloy Water NZ is part of the Belgium owned Eloy Group (est. 1965) who have built a strong global reputation supplying waste water treatment plants to 26 countries around the world. Eloy Water specialises in modular treatment solutions for single house to mid-size communities that includes three technologies:

  • Submerged Aerated Fixed Film (SAFF)
  • Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR)
  • Passive Treatment Filter (Zero Power Treatment Process).

This strategic alliance between two family owned companies, shares a common vision and combines more than 110 years of experience in construction and waste water treatment. In 2013, Eloy Water opened a subsidiary office in New Zealand and since that time has established a strong market presence in the waste water industry. The strength of this partnership will establish familiarity and permanence of a global suite of products within the local market. It provides the New Zealand market with Eloy Water Global Technology and R & D – supported by the manufacturing strength of Hynds Pipe Systems. In the coming months, Hynds and Eloy Water will introduce a suite of products focused primarily on the treatment of domestic grade waste water for single dwellings, up to medium size communities.

We will also introduce “SMART”, a new way of designing tailored solutions to difficult projects. The Eloy Water range of products includes well known brands such as Oxyfix, X-Perco, and Airoxy. They will sit within Hynds Wastewater Category, alongside products such as the Hynds Lifestyle® Treatment System and Aquate. The primary focus on this new business partnership, is to be the market leader in development and distribution of waste water treatment solutions. This exciting new venture will commence on 03 April 2017 under the leadership of Mike Dawson, the previous General Manager of Eloy Water NZ.

John and Leonie Hynds inducted into the NZ Business Hall of Fame

Léonie and John Hynds are among the 2017 Laureates in be inducted into the prestigious New Zealand Business Hall of Fame.

This honour recognizes John and Léonie’s significant contribution to the economic and social development of New Zealand through Manufacturing, Engineering and infrastructure. Like other inductees, theirs is a story of enterprise, hard work and success.

In addition to their contribution to business, John and Léonie have contributed significantly to the community and continue to do so through the Hynds Foundation.

“Léonie and I are thrilled to receive this honour,” says John. “But we are particularly pleased as it recognises our company, and the many people we have employed both previously and now, who have contributed to its ongoing success.”

The Hall of Fame was established in 1994 by the Young Enterprise Trust, and Auckland Chamber of Commerce. A Gala Dinner celebrating the new inductees will be held at The Langham on 27th July, 2017. www.businesshalloffame.co.nz/
John and Léonie Hynds established a manufacturing operation in their backyard in Takanini, Auckland in 1973. The Hynds Group now comprises six business units in New Zealand and Australia employing over 700 people. Considered the supply partner of choice for New Zealand’s Civil Construction Industry, the group includes metal, concrete and plastics manufacturing, product importation and distribution, and trade supply.

Despite its considerable size, the Hynds Group remains proudly family-owned business.
